Sunset tables
The valley's best trick is the sunset, and two restaurants are built around it. At elements the windows face west over Paradise Valley; at Geordie's, in the 1931 Wrigley Mansion, you see the whole city from a hilltop.

Cafe Monarch

A spa afternoon
Resort spas are why many couples come. Joya, at the Omni Montelucia, has a hammam ritual and a rooftop pool facing Camelback; ask about couples' treatments when you book, and note that late changes are charged.

More than 50,000 desert plants on 55 cultivated acres, with five themed trails through cactus, agave and wildflowers. Most people spend two to three hours; the evening light is lovely.
UnderTow
Below Sip Coffee, 3626 E Indian School Rd, Arcadia
A 44-seat tiki bar hidden beneath a coffee shop and built like the cargo hold of a 19th-century clipper ship, with rare rums and the odd simulated thunderstorm. Ten years old in 2026.
Tip: Seats are sold in 90-minute blocks, so book.
Our advice
- Time dinner reservations 20 to 30 minutes before sunset, not at it.
- Book spa treatments for the afternoon after a morning outdoors; you'll enjoy them more.
- A drive up to Taliesin West on a clear morning is a lovely, unhurried date.
