Things to Do in Savannah at Night for Grown-Ups

Savannah's squares are at their most atmospheric after dark, with the moss in the live oaks and the gas lamps lit. The evening here is about a rooftop sunset, a long Southern dinner, a piano bar or a basement jazz room, and a walk home through the squares. Here's how to plan one.

At The Olde Pink House, the Planters Tavern cellar bar has fireplaces, the same menu and a pianist from 7:30 p.m.; it takes no reservations, so put your name down and wait in the square. Our advice

  • Everything here is in the walkable historic district: River Street and City Market for the rooftops, Vic's and Jazz'd; the squares for The Olde Pink House, Alley Cat and Artillery.
  • Plan your bar night for Monday to Saturday, as Alley Cat Lounge and Artillery close on Sundays.
  • Reserve The Grey before you arrive, and use the no-reservation rooftops and bars for the rest of the night.
  • Check current hours and tour times before you go.

Everything here was checked in September 2026. Hours and show runs change, so confirm before you go.
